Atelier is a working collective art studio, located in the historic Lipsitz building in the heart of downtown Beaufort, South Carolina. Built in 1883, this gorgeous building, with the original hardwood floors and high ceilings, houses 14 individual art studios of local Lowcountry artists. On any given day, you can climb the beautiful original staircase to Atelier and witness the magic being made right before your eyes. With the historic charm, slightly slanted floors, natural light and gorgeous artwork covering the walls, Atelier is truely a one-of-a-kind experience. Meet the artists and learn more about our beautiful seaside town through every brushstroke. Our downtown area has much to offer, and we're proud to be a part of the spirit of historic Beaufort.

Do you want to know what it's like to take a stroll through our 1880s building and peer inside each little art studio? This is a great example all rolled into one photo. Antique original floors, paint strewn about because our artists actually create here, drawings, paintbrushes, old furniture dotted in beautiful colors of accidental mishaps that make each studio even more lovely and characterized.

While to some, it may seem chaotic to think of 13 artists all working alongside each other, but fear not- there is no disorder here. Lulling music leads you through the winding hallways, laughter from joyfulness bounces from the slightly slanted walls, colorful original artwork paints the rooms with delight, creative energy fills you with a breath of fresh air. THIS is Atelier, and we'd love for you to stop by and experience the magic for yourself.
